I first conceived the idea of EL-Jarette in 2010, but I couldn’t bring myself to achieve it because of life issues and the crazy circle of the corporate world. However, in 2017 when I was finally out of the corporate world, I allowed frustration set in and got bashed and beaten by life conditions before I grew sense and let the GLORY HALLOW settle on my head. (In case you don’t understand, the arc that shines over the head of angels). Immediately, I forced myself to settle individual decisions with God in prayer and intense sessions and then I was now ready.


But GUESS WHAT? I was full of FEAR. I was so scared. I asked myself a thousand questions, and then I worried myself with what people will say. In 2018, after several encouragements from family and friends, my fear was on partial departure, so I took the bold step and registered the company. With a broader vision of writing, training and selling books, it was time to hit the streets.

On selling books, I will tell that story another day. As for writing, well, let’s say its natural gifting, but I have done a lot of courses, workshops and endless reading. I still do them every day and write a minimum of about 1500 to 2000 words every day to stay in writing shape. My writing experience also has a story of its own kept for another day. The focus right now is TRAINING SERVICES we render at EL-JARETTE, so back to the gist.


After several preparations, I was now ready. I decided that since ART was what I know and what I was good at, that was the technique I would use for training sessions irrespective of whatever challenges the organization might have. (You won’t know until you hire EL-JARETTE).


In the bible, when David was going to fight Goliath, King Saul gave David massive armoury that he had not proved because David was not a man of war. David, however, dropped those uncomfortable armouries and focused on the sling and stones that he was more familiar with. If you are not familiar with the weapon that you are going to use in battle, you will find yourself at a disadvantage when you attempt to use it.


It was now time to prove my worth. I booked an appointment with my first client. If you have ever watched movies or documentaries where individuals are trapped in the forest for a night with all sorts of creatures hooting, then you probably have an idea of what I went through the night before. It was morning now, so I dressed up, packed my stuff and went to the client’s office.


After about five minutes, I approached the MD in his cozy office. I spoke my eloquent grammar and gesticulated with my arms as I controlled my mannerism.

The MD just stared at me, blankly. My tongue was suddenly dry, and it was a cue for my spirit as it eventually exited, but my physical body was still there trying to get a deal. I wasn’t any of the renowned training organizations so he couldn’t be bothered. Then I thought quickly and I offered to train his staff pro bono if he could tell me what their pressing challenge was. Only then did he take an interest in my offerings.


Long and short, I researched, read, gathered cases studies, prepared and went ahead to train the staff members of this company. Experience is not a substitute for knowledge, but you must stay knowledgeable to be able to respond to crisis and challenges. What was interesting was that the MD sat in training, and they had so much fun while learning the solutions they needed as a company.


After the training session, the MD walked up to me and said “Madam, do you know you are the first facilitator that has trained my staff, and no one slept off. Thank you very much. Let’s have a meeting and agree on future training” he finished off smiling. I was stunned, shocked. Did this man offer me a training deal? I asked myself.

This MD had no idea that everything I did, I did it scared, fearing the worst, not knowing what would come of it. The only thing I was sure of was that I would give my best during the training and commit to results, and that was what I did.


Today, I’m booked for several training sessions, and I have brought in partners so that I am not overwhelmed. Believe it or not; I STILL DO IT SCARED. I’m not the most knowledgeable or best facilitator in the world, but I do try to be better every day.


I want to encourage someone out there, perhaps, you have a vision, a dream and you are scared to start. Don’t worry about being an expert, just #doitscared and remember you don’t have to know everything to teach someone. Begin by showing them what you know and how it has helped you and then grow from there.
